Testimonials

WHAT THE PRESS HAS SAID:

"Always wanted to do some plein air painting in Italy? Well, if you like to paint outdoors surrounded by some of Italy's most beautiful scenery, Arts Sojourn is offering a $100 discount off their regularly low prices (absurdly low, in my opinion). Get as much instruction as you want, all out in the open air." James Martin, About.com, Europe Travel, November 7, 2007

"If images of the Italian Riviera don't inspire you, the gallery of work by previous sojourners and the director might." The Wall Street Journal, March 2, 2004

WHAT OUR SOJOURNERS SAY:

"We are happy veterans of four Arts Sojourn trips to Italy. Each trip was fabulous and memorable because of the care, advanced planning and thoroughness done by Matthew and Barbara. The Italian city choices - all different each year- offer the artist a vast array of scenic painting sites. The evening Show n' Tell is fun and brings the group together for art talks and camaraderie. We make friends. We feel Matthew is the best tour leader, very experienced in planning and executing a wonderful trip with something for everyone. We feel he knows how to make an Arts Sojourn a joyful, productive experience and vacation. We highly recommend it." H. and M. G., Bloomington, IL

"As a non-artist I found this trip a wonderful solution to the" I hate groups" and the "I hate to travel alone" problems. I could wander off to do my own thing by day and then meet with a very congenial and small group of likewise independent souls." N. M., Beaufort, SC

"I'm almost afraid to tell you how nice traveling with Matthew and Barbara is, I don't share well....but they do...and that's the fun ...You can join the group as a stranger and leave as family...this is truly comfortable travel...and Matthew knows the insides to all the areas he visits...so if you love to travel and paint this is a great way to go...." B. W., Sarasota, FL

"I recently attended the Arts Sojourn program because I was interested in learning about plein aire painting with renowned watercolorist Mathew Daub. While it is a great opportunity for painters I recommend this program to anyone who wishes to broaden their horizons and replenish their spirit. The selection of hotels and locations are well thought out and away from the high season tourist traffic. If you are looking for a tightly scripted tourist traipsing schedule, this is not for you. Members of our group came from all over North America and pursued many interests including painting, photography, writing, hiking, visiting museums and of course enjoying the food and wines of Italy. I have traveled extensively throughout Europe and I highly recommend this program for those looking for a unique, relaxing cultural experience with like minded travelers." W. S., Allentown, PA

"I think that the My wife and I were very pleased with the 2011 Arts Sojourn. The hotel in Lucca was conveniently located and started us off with an excellent breakfast each morning. The hotel also provided bicycles that made for rapid transit to  the painting sites and for good exercise. A side trip to Bagni di Lucca was a special treat. The scenery was spectacular! Our stay in Sestri Levante was exceptional. The hotel was beautiful with possibly the best restaurant in Sestri, located near the Cinque Terre. All said, a wonderful Sojourn both for painting and an appreciation for good living." R.F., Glendale, MO
